Member Benefits

The Novato Mothers Club offers members a range of activities and events.

Special Events

The NMC sponsors several free family events for members throughout the year: Halloween Party, Holiday Party, PJ Party, Easter Egg Hunt, and Family Picnic. These large events are held on weekends or evenings so that the whole family can attend. They include crafts, face-painting, live performances, and other activities geared toward families with young children.

In May or June of each year, the NMC sponsors a Mothers' Social. This is a free evening event just for moms in celebration of Mother’s Day and includes wine, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a raffle with many great prizes from local businesses.

In July, the NMC walks as a group in Novato’s downtown 4th of July Parade. Club members decorate their wagons or strollers in red, white, and blue and join in the Independence Day festivities!

Speaker Presentations are also offered from time to time.

Past speaker presentations have included panel discussions with NUSD principals and superintendent, emergency preparedness, sleep techniques, and healthy cooking.

The club hosts monthly outings for everyone, including outings for kids of all ages, activities for the entire family, and even some fun events just for moms. Major club events and moms' night outs are held on weekends or evenings, while smaller family outings are held both during the week and on weekends. Family outings in the past have included trips to local pumpkin patches, Nutcracker performances, Train Town, the Marine Mammal Center, family friendly hikes and much more! Moms' night out events have included evening mixers at local restaurants, movie nights, Sunday brunch at a winery, Bunco, and exclusive shopping events at local stores.

Preschool Resource

The club will unveil a new online Preschool and Early Education resource available for all Novato parents in spring 2023.  Novato preschools, daycares, and in-home facilities will be listed and schools will be able to present their curriculum and philosophy to parents.

Playgroups

Our member-only Facebook group allows moms to make their own playgroup events. Playgroups are a great way to find support and connect with other moms while creating lasting friendships for both parents and children. If you have a specific idea for a playgroup but do not feel comfortable creating your own event, please reach out to one of the co-directors or Facebook group administrators.

Member Connections

We love it when our members connect outside of formal NMC events! We welcome you to exchange numbers or reach out to us if you met someone but forgot to exchange information. One way that we assist our members with these connections is through our member-only Facebook group. We share fun things to do in the area and various collaborative documents (such as a book recommendation list). Many members also create their own introduction posts, ask for recommendations, and provide advice when requested.  We hope that most of our members will join, but it is certainly not a requirement. All of our formal NMC events are posted on the website and you can always reach out to the co-directors with any questions.

Rummage Sale

We hope to hold a rummage sale each spring (to return spring 2024) to sell/buy all the stuff that accumulates in the garage when you have children – maternity clothes, toys, strollers, baby clothes, kids' clothes, etc. The club takes a percentage of the proceeds to help fund our other activities throughout the year. You don't have to be an NMC member to sell items and the sale itself is open to the public. We also will accept outright donations of items to sell and benefit the club.

Community Outreach

Some of the club’s energies and resources are channeled into projects that help those in our community who have important needs.  We welcome all cultures and abilities. The club focuses on assisting organizations and programs that help moms and children with special needs. E-mail nmc.codirectors@gmail.com for more information.

Monthly Board Meetings

The board meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month. Board meetings are posted as club events and all members are welcome.  If you are considering joining the board or have suggestions for us, we encourage you to RSVP and attend.  Email nmc.codirectors@gmail.com with any questions.

Mother’s Support

Club members offer support to other members and their families during both the joys and stresses of motherhood. Members provide homemade meals during times such as a new birth, bed rest, and illness or family emergencies.
